{Home Decor} Metallic Spray Paint Chandelier Makeover

One of the things our new house has is a lot of gold fixtures. Gold chandeliers, gold door knobs, gold faucets. It's not an overabundance, since some things have been updated to bronze. But not everything. Like the traditional gold chandelier that was hanging in our dining room. My mom taught me to waste not, want not. So I wasted not and grabbed a can of Rust-O-Leum's oil rubbed bronze metallic spray paint and went to town. And now I want not, either.

Before...

During...

After...

I have some lampshades I might add to it that are coming from storage, I'll have to see how they look. And the dining table and chairs were a $250 Craig's List purchase and another future makeover project. Slowly but surely, things are coming together!

    1. Thanks! I plan to paint the table and chairs an ebony black with a slightly distressed look to the edges and recover the chair pads in some nice colorful fabric.

The chandelier looks fantastic. Does the spray paint leave much of a paint odor?

    1. Not at all! I painted it outside and brought it in after it dried. No smell at all.

  4. I'm painting a bedroom set right now and getting ready to paint a dining set. If you haven't heard of Annie Sloan chalk paint, look into it. No sanding or removing old stain, just paint over it. I've had great results so far.

  6. When I saw the gold chandelier I thought "What's wrong with that? It's pretty." But the after is a million times better. I love it. I love the dining set too. I think it will look good painted black.

  7. I love projects like this! A little paint can make dramatic changes. I'm a nut trying to tackle a bunch of DIY projects here before the quads birthday. Oh boy!

  8. Thanks for the idea-- I would have never thought of this and have a couple of fixtures in my living room that I've been "living with" until I get the funds to replace them. Yours turned out beautifully-- you should be really proud.

  10. We bought a set just like your dining room set 13 years ago for $ 899.00 and that was because it had a small chip. .. I can only imagine what it would have been off the base {Navy} and brand new. . what an awesome price you got that for. .. love the bronze too
