Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

I don't talk about it much, but the quads originally started out as quintuplets—one of the babies only survived the first few weeks of the pregnancy. I still occasionally think about that fifth baby and what he/she would have been like. I wonder if that baby's passing played a part in the fact that the quads all survived. And I think about the two miscarriages I had before that and how I struggled with not becoming bitter and angry at God for the pain I felt.

Today, Oct. 15, is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It's a difficult experience that so many people go through but don't often talk about. Knowledge is power when it comes to pregnancy and especially infant loss, and there's strength in numbers when it comes to recovering from such sadness. Support those you know who are dealing with this, say extra prayers for them at night and let them know you care; rejoice with those who now have babies; and hug your own kids extra tight today. We can't make sense of why loss is ever a part of anyone's lot in life, but we can pull together to survive it!
