Yes, I'm back. No, nothing's been wrong—I've just been so busy and tired that anytime someone asked me what my name was or what day of the week we were on, I blanked! I mentioned in the quad squad's two year update how things are a whole new kind of busy these days and that couldn't be more true. It's all the husband and I can do right now to meet our daily minimum requirements like shower, feed the kids and remember to get the laundry from the washer into the dryer after it's already been sitting there for two days. No joke! I've been exhausted, overwhelmed and incredibly behind on everything for the past few weeks.
Partially because this has happened...
But a miraculous thing happened this particular weekend. I have actually felt good for my third day in a row now (I've been feeling crappy a lot for a long time, from nausea to headaches to knee pain) and had enough energy to knock out several organizing projects around the house. Plus the lawn guys came yesterday and our yard looks all trimmed up again and a couple cleaning ladies came this morning and scrubbed my house from top to bottom!! To top all that off, the kids went down for naps with very little complaining this afternoon and I don't have a mountain of things to do at the moment. And it's only Saturday. Hence the blog update. ;)
Last year on the Fourth of July, we were moving into our house. Like, literally. We showed up that morning with trucks and loads full of boxes and hauled it all in. We slept at the house that same night and have been here ever since! Still loving it, too!
This year, we were able to relax a little and enjoy our own festivities at my nanny's apartments where there's a very kid-friendly and non-crowded splash pad that the quad's enjoyed immensely. I brought lunch for everyone—easy transport stuff like Italian pasta salad, coleslaw, fruit, lunch meat and cookies—and the kids played and played.
My nanny and her boyfriend were both the sweetest helpers so that the husband and I didn't have to go crazy keeping up with four toddlers in the water! And Tiffani even supplied the babies' with their first popsicles, which were a huge hit of course.
So the fact that I've got a whole other day of "weekend" to go, which will include a much needed date night to the movies with the husband Sunday evening, means I'm loving my 4th this year and hope you're having a good one, too!
Now time to go enjoy my home clean home...
So glad you are having a good couple of days. It is so nice when they line up in a row. We too recently had our first popsicles and they loved them. Will probably have some more today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteYea doing a Happy Dance, that you are feeling better, enjoying a freshly scrubbed house, got some projects done, employ such a Great Nanny, and have a Date Nite planned...
ReplyDeleteOh did I mention the Quads are adorable:)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. and Thanks for sharing:)
So happy for you! I honestly don't know *how* you do everything so having a clean house & feeling better is great. My computer has been crazy so I haven't been able to visit. The kids are looking so cute but older. That's the natural way of life but the time flies by so quickly! I'm sure they loved the pool and the popsicles...fun times.

Girl, I'm with you on the quad exhaustion! My blog has been quite neglected too. I'm dreading the days of toddler beds too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great July 4th celebration! Those to go plates for the quads are awesome! I'll have to get a set. Aren't first Popsicles fun?
